can i live my life horizontally

I realized int he last few days that I feel much better lying down. I don't feel as bloated, I actually have an appetite, I feel like I am digesting properly.

I don;t know if its all in my head but I wish I could spend more time horizontal.

Obviously it's been a rough few days and i am really struggling. I feel bad pretty much all the time, not knowing if I am hungry, dehydrated, full etc. I never want to eat but I do anyway. I have been overeating which is funny because the amount I eat is a portion of what my friends eat. I have one bite and I am full.

Trying to start a food journal but also find those unhelpful. I need to be more conscious of eating whole unprocessed foods and eating simple meals.

Ahhh Memories

So I am trying to stay positive even though my stomach has been temperamental as of late.

When I was living in Israel during university my roommate made the most amazing carrot salad, with raisins and pineapple. While perusing blogs this week one of my go to recipe bloggers posted a carrot salad and I was inspired to make it. Carrots seem to be on my mind this week because I was also enticed by a flourless carrot cake. mmmm.

Anyway so here is my creation- 3 servings
Summer Sweetness Carrot Salad

3 carrots
1 tsp agave
¼ cup raisins
1 tsp olive oil

Protein options
½ cup chickpeas
Soak chickpeas overnight and then cook them in boiling water for about an hour. Check to make sure water hasn't boiled off. Cook until desired consistency.

Tofu- baked in olive oil, garlic powder and salt for 30-45 mins at 175. keep baking until crispy on all sides.

Mix all ingredients and let sit in fridge for a few hours before serving.

I used both the tofu and chickpeas but I think next time I'll stick with the chickpeas or go with black lentils. I also would have added a bit more sweetener or gone with pineapple for sweetness and liquid.

I need to learn how to read and listen

To my body.

This afternoon at around 1:15 I was feeling kind of hungry.

I had a small breakfast at around 9 so I was only mildly surprised.

Instead of eating I did a workout which I couldn't even finish. The one I did yesterday left my legs weak so I couldn't so the last 50 squats. From the beginning I knew it was probably the wrong decision but I did it anyway. Also workout here in the middle of the day in an un-air conditioned room is probably really unhealthy for me. So 40ish minutes later I felt like I was going to collapse so I dove into rice cakes, tahina, a tomato and natural fig jam. Probably ate too much but I wanted to eat right away cause I felt like i was going to pass out, I wanted some protein and some veg but could not wait long enough to make a smoothie which is maybe what I should have done.

oh well.

Hopefully I'll be hungry for dinner. It's too bad because I have been trying to do a better job of paying attention to hunger levels and cravings.

Now how do I get rid of my monster headache.

Interesting Gym Class

Today I went to strength and sculpt and it turned out to be a drum aerobics class. I decided to stay and check it out. It was interesting.

We had upside down stools with a bosu ball on them and drum sticks. We were drumming high and our arm workout came from how high you lifted your arms. Then we did lunges while banging, plie and regular squats also while moving our drumming up and down the ball as well as curtsy lunges while banging with opposite hand in the same direction. It was interesting. A nice change for my mood and my muscles but not enough of a workout.
Similar to this

I was definitely sweating and felt like I got a workout but not enough. Later I am going to do a body rock abs workout.

mmm quinoa

So this week I made3 things with quinoa. 2 were not so great and 1 was.

I attempted to make a breakfast cookie with quinoa flakes. The quinoa flakes don't taste that great and smell weird. Basically it didn't work. I don't even want to put up the photos.

The 3rd dish is nice and simple. A Sweet Potato-Green Lentil Quinoa Pilaf
serves 2

2 cups water
1/2 cup green lentils rinsed
1/2 cup quinoa rinsed\
1 small onion
1 sweet potato
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper

1. chop onion and sautee until brown.
2. add lentils and 2 cups of water, cumin and salt to taste- cover and when boiling turn down heat. let simmer for 20 minutes
3. add quinoa and cover. Let simmer for another 20 minutes. Make sure all water has not been soaked up and its burning. If there is still water keep simmering and check often. If water is gone check how soft ingredients are. If they are crunchy add 1/2 cup water and keep simmering. Do this until desired consistency is reached.
4. add spices to taste.

So confused!

I am very confused!

About what my body wants?
What it is reacting to?
How to take care of it?

All of the information on the internet tell me different things. BAH!

Hopefully the doctor can help.

Anyway, today I was actually hungry so in the morning I had iced coffee, black and a dish with rice noodles, nutritional yeast, broccoli, and brussel sprouts. Trying to stay basic and small so hopefully my stomach will be ok. I also had an apple and then a green smoothie with mango, plum, spinach, almond and flax meal.

It was good but now I feel full and bloated. I think I eat/drink them too fast.

Getting low low low low low

That is where my mood, energy level and healthy level are.

Things have gotten worse and I am pretty depressed about it.
